first of all i am a good artist so i don't need help there.
but my friend is turning 18 soon and wants to get a tattoo in memory of his grandpa
i was thinking about doing a grave (cross) with a ribbon around it saying the name and whatever, with an eagle coming up from the backround or something because he was in the navy...
however, i am having some problems.
i don't think it's creative enough.
so any cool ideas would help
pictures would be a plus.
help please!

What you got there sounds good. I think it would look good if you add some of the things his/her grandpa liked or kinda sort of connect it to those ideas. that would be a great tattoo in my opinion.
Why a grave? That’s so…grim. Tell your friend that usually the best memorial tattoos are ones that remind you of the person in a good way. I’d never get “RIP” or someone’s dates on me…or definitely not a grave.
I have a memorial tattoo that is a koi fish (because my great grandmother had a koi pond), flowers (because she had millions of plants/flowers), and the signature she used on all of her artwork. It reminds me of her in a positive way…it’s not a “oh, she died
” kinda thing…it’s more of a “Oh, she lived” kinda tattoo…and makes me think of the great times I had with her.
i like your idea…sounds unique. and sometimes the simplicity of designs are what make them great. so i say sick with what you have.
